Lynn Marie Talmadge, 67, of Dawsonville passed away Friday, December 8th, 2023 with her daughters and son-in-law at her bedside.
Lynn was born in New York on February 3, 1956 (that cat’s out of the bag now) to the late Robert and Ann-Marie Gotty. Lynn lived life her way, accepting the consequences as well as celebrations along her journey. Her adolescence was filled with adventures and misadventures. As she entered adulthood her purpose in life became apparent. In the mid-80s she attended Lanier Technical College and became an EMT which led her to Nursing School. She graduated as a Registered Nurse from North Georgia College and State University. Over her 30-year nursing career, she was an IMCU, ICU, and ER nurse. She was a member of the Dawson County Volunteer Fire Department for 15 years. Lynn also used her experience to volunteer as a nurse for several community programs. Lynn’s dedication to the healthcare and public safety professions inspired her children to follow in her footsteps in healthcare professions. Her greatest professional accomplishments were sharing her knowledge with others in her quirky and unique way and also the times she was able to work side by side with her daughter. Lynn was a brilliant nurse and an advocate for her patients and their families. Lynn found enjoyment liberating plants and flowers and transplanting them into her yard. While Lynn was loved her children, they did not hold a candle to her grandchildren. Her grandchildren were the light of her life and they loved their Mimi. For those that knew Lynn best, she lived a life full of laughter, energy, compassion, love, loyalty, and craziness that will live on as colorful stories and memories.
Lynn was also preceded in death by her brother Roy Gotty.
Lynn is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Lauren and Andrew Green, Clayton; daughter Ashley Talmadge, Dawsonville; granddaughters Alexis Marie “Lexi” and Lindsey Claire Green, Dawsonville; brother and sister- in-law, Rod and Viorica Gotty, Larkspur, CO; sister-in-law, Marilyn Gotty Tucson, AZ.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Lanier Boys and Girls Club.
Family will receive friends and family on Wednesday, December 13, 2023 from 4 until 6 at the funeral home.
Lynn will be interred at Coal Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery. Per Lynn requested not to have a funeral; but the family will host a celebration of life to share stories and memories at a later date when it is warmer. Lynn despised cold weather.
