Ms. Shirleen Morrow Johnson was born September 30, 1939, to the late Memory Morrow Sr. and Estella Flint Morrow in Barrow County, Georgia. Shirleen is the seventh and youngest child to be born of this union. Shirleen was a caring mother, grandmother, sister, and friend and was affectionately known as Mama, mother, grandma, and GiGi to her family and loved ones. She left this world peacefully on December 6, 2023.
Ms. Shirleen Morrow Johnson grew up in Bethlehem GA and received her early education at Tanner’s Bridge Primary School. She would openly share funny stories with her children and grandchildren about her upbringing and childhood memories. Here she met her future husband, Roy Clifford Johnson, and she would often talk on how they were childhood best friends. After getting married, the family relocated to Gainesville, Georgia for better career and work opportunities.
Ms. Shirleen Morrow Johnson grew up in the church and was a proud member of Appalachee Shoals Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. B.Z Daniels, who she was particularly fond of, and under the current leadership of Pastor Thomas Shannon. She had a deep love of her church and was always wanting to take an active interest. She was actively involved in the Senior’s Ministry and the Mother’s Ministry.
Ms. Shirleen Morrow Johnson will be deeply missed by her loved ones and all the lives she touched. She is preceded in death by her parents, four siblings, and her daughter: Memory Morrow Sr, Estella Flint Morrow, Clarice Broughton, Memory Morrow Jr, Eula Foster, Elzora Daniels, and Baby Gwendolyn Johnson. Left to cherish her precious memories are her loving son and daughter-in-law, Rev. and Mrs. Dewi (Cheryl) Johnson of Flowery Branch and her daughter Sheila Johnson David of Gainesville, GA. Grandchildren: Demetrius, Tijuan, Christy (Armond), Avery (Dameon), and Kymyeal(Lionel). Eleven Great-Grandchildren. Sister Gwendolyn Hill, Brother Joe Nathan (Vera) Morrow, and Sister-in-Law Alice Morrow all of Bethlehem, GA. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church family, and friends. Special friends: Almeria Richardson, Lisa Ansley, Gussie Randolph, Callie Lipscomb, and Ola Bell Harper.
