Theo Crane, 88, of Dawsonville passed away Sunday December 3, 2023 at his residence following a period of declining health.
Born January 12, 1935 to the late Carrol and Dude Crane, Theo had been a resident of Dawsonville for the past 18 years. Born and raised in Dahlonega, Theo and Ellen married in 1955 and moved to Atlanta in 1956 where they spent over 40 years. Theo was a skilled truck driver and never had an accident his entire career working for ABF Freight and East Texas Motor Freight until his retirement in 1991. In 2005 Theo and Ellen moved back to Dawsonville where he loved to fish in the pond beside his house and grow a vegetable garden. A loving husband and father, Theo would always have a story or joke to tell with a smile and a laugh.
Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Ellen Crane of Dawsonville; Daughter, Elizabeth Crane of Dawsonville; brother and sisters-in-law, David and Samantha Crane, Vera Mae Crane, Bertha Mace, all of Dahlonega; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Renee and Mike Webb, Diane Houston, all of Douglasville; aunt, Dorothy Singleton of Dawsonville; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his grandson, Michael Jason Rogers; brothers, Charles Crane, Clifton Crane; brothers-in-law, Don Houston, Melvin Chester; sister-in-law, Sue Chester.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at 1 p.m. at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Rodney Pilcher and Rev. Gary Moore will officiate. Interment will follow in the Wesley Chapel Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, December 5 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Wednesday, December 6 from 11 a.m. until the service hour.
