Dallas Smith

Mr. Dallas Smith, 82, of Gainesville passed away Thursday, November 30, 2023 following a sudden illness.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 6, 2023 in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Rev. Garry English will officiate. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.

A lifetime resident of Hall County, he was born on August 31, 1941 in Gainesville, he was the son of the late Denver Smith and the late Sue Smith.

Mr. Smith was steadfast in his devotion to his family and his many close friends. He worked tirelessly to care for his family and loved to spend time hosting family dinners as often as he could. Throughout his 70+ years’ work career from teaching and coaching to his many years in the Poultry industry, he never met a stranger.  He served as a mentor and father figure to many. He was passionate about fishing and spent many happy hours on the sea with his brother and closest friends. He will be deeply missed by all those touched by his unconditional love and encouragement.

Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Barbara Jean Chambers Smith of Gainesville; daughters and sons in law, Teena and Woody Dobbs of Flowery Branch, Terri and Chris Kelly of Oakwood; sister and brother in law, Barbara and Ray Shubert of Gainesville; sister, Dallette Shewbert of Cleveland; brother and sister in law, Mike and Pam Smith of Gillsville; his beloved grandchildren, Ansley and Madeline Dobbs, Jackson, Trevor, Ella and Emmie Kelly and several nieces, nephews and other loving relatives.
