Harold Lee Martin age 97 of Gainesville Ga passed away November 30th, 2023, after a period of declining health.
Born on October 5, 1926, he was a child of the depression and was raised with virtually nothing. Due to this experience, he lived his life in a very conservative and independent way.
Mr. Martin was the owner operator of Piedmont Loan Company for 44 years. During that time, he made many friends and even more acquaintances. He was a member of the Anglers Sunday School class at First Baptist Church in Gainesville.
After his retirement, he enjoyed working with his cattle and his farm which kept him in exceptionally good health until two strokes befell him at age 90. Even then his fight and determination kept him going.
Mr. Martin was preceded in death by his parents William Allen Martin and Mattie Villyard Martin. He was also preceded by his siblings Florene Martin Allison, Louise Martin, William Allen Martin JR., Winfred Martin, and Bobbie Martin Thomas.
Mr. Martin is survived by Evelyn Brown Martin, his wife of 71 years, Children – Darryll Martin (Cathy) and Donna Martin Moss, Grandchildren – Allyson George (Michael), Cara Martin, Kyle Moss, and Sara Beth Wernic (Arthur)Great grandson, Bennett George.
Mr. Martin is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Sylvia Brown, Bonnie Turk, and Elaine Barnes (Jimmy) along with a host of other beloved relatives.
The family would also like to thank the staff of New Horizons Lanier Park for the compassion, care, and patience shown to Mr. Martin during his stay with them.
As per Mr. Martins request a graveside service only will be held at Alta Vista Cemetery on December 5th at 2:00 p.m.
