James Hugh Rice, Sr.

Mr. James Hugh Rice, Sr., age 85, of Monroe passed away Monday, November 27, 2023 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center – Braselton, surrounded by his family.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 1, 2023 in the Chapel of Memorial Park South Funeral Home with interment following at Memorial Park South Cemetery.  __ will officiate.  The family will receive friends 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, November 30, 2023 and 1:00 – 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 1, 2023 at Memorial Park South Funeral Home.

Mr. Rice was born October 21, 1938 to the late Noyes Dupree & Lettie Rue Rice in Bellton, Georgia.  He was a retired Business Agent with the UFCW. 

Mr. Rice is survived by his son & daughter-in-law, Jamie & Ronni Rice of Monroe; daughter & son-in-law, Sherrie & John Ripley of Lawrenceville; daughter, Donna Mercer of Senoia; 7 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 2 great great-grandchildren; brother & sister-in-law, Dan & Joann Rice of Powder Springs; sisters, Ruenell Pair of Dallas and Judy Odum of Zebulon; and several nieces & nephews.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Vickie Rice; parents; and son-in-law, James Mercer.
