Charles Michael “Mike” Greavu, 76, of Gainesville, Georgia, passed away on November 27, 2023. He was born on January 22, 1947, in Detroit, Michigan.
Mike attended Columbus High School and later earned three degrees from the University of Georgia. After graduation, Mike began his long career in education at East Hall High School in Gainesville, Georgia, where he was a teacher, coach, and assistant principal. After eight years, Mike became the principal at Oakwood Elementary School, where he served for 11 years. Following his time at Oakwood, Mike moved to North Hall Middle School when the school opened in 1989. He served as the principal there for 10 years. Mike ended his career at Myers Elementary School in 2003.
Mike was a life-long Georgia fan and loved to cheer on the Dawgs. He was always so proud to share about his son’s years on the UGA Basketball team. Mike enjoyed playing golf and tennis. Shortly after retirement, Mike helped to open and served in a community thrift store in Cleveland, Georgia.
Mike is survived by his beloved wife, Cathy Greavu, and their children, Marjorie Sozanski, Emily Hudson, Sam and Amanda Greavu, Patti Simmons, Jessica and Doug Williamson, and Justin and Lauren Roberts, as well as 15 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Mercia Greavu, and his mother, Marjorie Ann Jacobson Greavu.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, December 9, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. in the chapel of Little & Davenport Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday, December 9, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made to a charity of your choice in Mike's memory.
