William Hilker Coley, Bill, 94 of Gainesville died Monday November 20, 2023, at his Hidden Harbor Lake home. Bill was born October 19, 1929, in Atlanta to the late Gabie Frank and Vernie Hilker Coley.
In 1947 Bill married Barbara Paradise Coley and together had 4 children. He received his Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology in 1950. He was president and vice president at Aero Corp from 1956-1972 in Lake City, FL, and Atlanta, GA. Vice President of Georgia Marble in Tate, GA from 1973-1976 and was the owner of Finishing Touch where he taught himself upholstery from 1977-2004 and was in the Army Air Corp in the early fifties.
Bill had his own plane where he was a private pilot, he enjoyed boating, tennis and golf, and built his lake house with his sons. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Gainesville.
In addition to his parents Bill is preceded in death by his wife of 57 years Barbara Paradise Coley and sister June Coley Loyd.
He is survived by his children, Teresa (Steve) Lane, Mike (Janice), David (Marcia) and Greg (Ginger) Coley, 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held Sunday December 3, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Little & Davenport Funeral Home. Rev. Shon Peppers officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday December 3 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Interment will be at a later date at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia.
