Joanna Morrison Wilbanks

Joanna Morrison Wilbanks, age 77, of Alto, Georgia passed away on Sunday, November 26, 2023.

Mrs. Wilbanks was born on June 7, 1946 in the Hollingsworth Community in Banks County, Georgia to the late James Richard Morrison, Sr. and Monteen Duckett Morrison. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of fifty-nine years, Donald B. Wilbanks; and sister, Janice Yarber.

Mrs. Wilbanks was a lifelong member of Harmony Baptist Church. She had been employed with Walmart in Cornelia, where she had worked in the Photo Lab at the time of her retirement. Joanna was known as a good cook, at church dinners and family dinners her homegrown green beans, corn, and biscuits were the first to enjoyed. She will also be remembered as an avid Georgia Football fan.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Andrea and Bobby Johnson, Jr., of Collierville, TN; sons, Jeffrey Wilbanks, of Clarkesville; Todd Wilbanks, of Woodland, MS; sister, June Wright, of Hollingsworth; brother, Jimmy Morrison, of Hollingsworth; grandchildren, Sarah Wilbanks, Erin Johnson, Rory Johnson, Brad Curtis, and Kristin Roberts.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at Harmony Baptist Church with Rev. Tony Byrd officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at the Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, the family would ask that a memorial donation be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. bov 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741 or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
