Wilma Lee West

Mrs. Wilma Lee West, age 88, of Dahlonega, passed away on Monday, November 13, 2023. She was a native and lifelong resident of Lumpkin County, born on April 2, 1935, to the late Raleigh and Estelle King Lee. Mrs. West was preceded in death by her husband, Donald West, sister and brother-in-law Martha and Walter Folger, and nephew, Charles Folger.

A beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, Mrs. West actively enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She was a devoted member of Dahlonega Baptist Church and took pleasure in her travels and playing bridge. Mrs. West was also a proud member of BETA SIGMA PHI and had a fulfilling career as an Administrative Assistant to the military department of The University of North Georgia before retiring.

Survivors include her children Cathy and Adam Van Drimmelen of Memphis, TN; Randy and Anne West of Cumming; Sarah and Tim Goode of Nashville, TN; grandchildren Christopher Batson of Suwanee; Zachary and Laura Batson of Lilburn; Stephen and Amanda Batson of Cincinnati, Ohio; Blake West of Cumming; Catherine West of Cumming; and great-granddaughter Elena Maeve Batson.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM on Saturday, November 18, 2023, in the chapel of Anderson-Underwood Funeral Home, with The Rev. Bill Hutcheson officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday at the funeral home.
