Patsy West Macloskie, 76 of Gainesville passed away peacefully November 12th, 2023 after a long battle with cancer.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 pm Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at Memorial Park Riverside Chapel. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 pm Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at Memorial Park Riverside Chapel with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Patsy was born on February 9, 1947 to John H West and Annie L (Morris) West. She was a lifelong educator and spent her entire teaching career in the Gainesville-Hall County area. She taught at several schools around the area, but most notably at Enota Elementary School, Lakeview Academy, Tadmore Elementary School and she retired from East Hall Middle School in 2015. As a young child growing up in Hall County, Patsy showed horses and played Basketball at Gainesville High School where she graduated in 1965. Patsy met her husband Tom on a blind date on the Chattahoochee River in July of 1970 and the two were married in February of 1971. She loved camping and tailgating in her and Tom’s motorhome in Athens and other SEC towns for football weekends partly because she loved UGA football, but, mostly because it allowed her to spend time with those that she loved most.
There are many awards, accolades, and achievements that Patsy was very proud of. Nothing, however, made her prouder than her 2 grandsons, Jack and Maddox. “Mimi’s boys” were the center of her universe.
In lieu of flowers, donations to American Cancer Society and American Heart Association would be appreciated.
