Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the passing of Mrs. Myrna Jean Blair, age 85, of Jefferson, Georgia who entered rest Monday November 6, 2023. Mrs. Blair was born in San Francisco, California the daughter to the late Teddy R. Hockersmith and Phylis Melvin Hockersmith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Jack H. Blair and her sister, Carole Tapparo.
Mrs. Blair was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother who spent most of her adult life living in Alpharetta, Georgia. Outside of caring for her family, she loved animals. Over the years she had horses, goats, cats, and dogs along with many feathered friends. Her days were actively spent outdoors gardening and training dogs in obedience. Mrs. Blair and Jack also loved to travel and visited all 50 states with National Parks and NASCAR races along the way. In her later years she volunteered her time at the Humane Society of Forsyth County and fostered many cats and dogs preparing them for adoption. Mrs. Blair moved to Jefferson, Georgia in 2016 to be closer to her daughters and continued her active lifestyle, caring for multiple cats and dogs while spreading color with flowers throughout her landscape at home.
Survivors include her daughters, Denise Blair Buffington of Jefferson, GA and Linda Blair Stooksbury (Thomas) of Greensboro, GA. Three grandchildren, Blair Michael Buffington of Woodstock, GA, Clark Herman Buffington of Jefferson, GA and Anna Jean Stooksbury of Brookhaven, GA.
In accordance with Mrs. Blair’s wishes, she will be cremated and a private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider making a donation to Oconee Regional Humane Society in Greensboro, Georgia in Myrna Jean Blair’s name.
