Annie Latrell Richardson

Annie Latrell Richardson, age 78, of Cumming, passed away on Friday, November 3, 2023.

Annie Latrell Richardson was born on March 10, 1945, in Cleveland, Georgia to the late James T. Richardson and Lenora (Dorsey) Richardson. She retired after working in the food service, manufacturing, and health care industries.  Ms. Richardson departed this life at her home in Cumming, Georgia where she resided with her daughter since 2018.  She was a devoted member of Cleveland Seventh Day Adventist Church in Cleveland, Georgia, and a tireless servant of God.

Latrell was also a beloved member of the Oak Spring Community and will be greatly missed. She was known in many communities as the lady who would drive from home to home to pick up children to take them to her story hour group to ensure they learned all about Jesus.  Latrell did everything she could to ensure that children had the opportunity to go to Christian summer camp and vacation bible school. Through her efforts, numerous children and their parents have built lasting relationships with Jesus.

Latrell was also a prolific gardener. Whether it was flowers or vegetables, she worked tirelessly to ensure hers were the biggest and prettiest. She was always willing to give you some vegetables from her garden or a piece of a plant to start your own.  

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Daniel Rakestraw and her sisters Viola Morrison and Mary Ruth Sutton.

She leaves to cherish her memories:  Daughter, Daphne Rakestraw. Brothers Jessie Richardson (Linneth) and Jerry Richardson (Essie).  Sisters, Mae Davis, Kathleen Jarrells, and chosen sister Barbara Jane Trammell.  Aunt Almeria Richardson. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, friends, and fellow Christians will miss the bright light of Latrell in this world.  She will rest in peace until the day when her Savior calls His good and faithful servant home.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 P.M. Sunday, November 12, 2023, at The Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home.  Pastor Richard Pinero and Pastor Mark Waters will officiate.  Interment will follow in Mt. Yonah Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home, prior to the funeral service.
