Mr. William Leon Kay, age 79 of S. Pond Street, Toccoa, Georgia passed away Saturday, October 28, 2023 at his residence.
The oldest son of the late Fred and Ruth Whitmire Kay, he was born July 23, 1944 in Stephens County, Georgia having lived in Peachtree City and in Tarpon Springs, Florida for many years before moving back to his hometown of Toccoa. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force, retired from Delta Air Lines with 36 years of service and was a member of Toccoa First United Methodist Church. He was an avid golfer, a jack of all trades and could do anything. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife of the home, Debbie Thomson Kay; daughters, Michele (Barry)
Kates of Charleston, South Carolina and Melissa (Brian) Beckworth of Newnan, Georgia; son Buddy Kay (Brooke Rudersdorf) of Toccoa; #1 papa to his grandchildren, Justin Miles (Michelle Bruce), Emily Shermer, Alexa Kates, Kylie Kates, Ariel Beckworth, Hunter Beckworth, Riley Beckworth, Beirgan Kay and Magnus Kay; great-grandchildren, Camden Miles and Mackenzie Miles; brother, Mike (Tricia) Kay of Martin; sisters, Fredda Thomason of Toccoa and Laura Turner of Martin; a number of nieces and nephews.
Memorial service will be Saturday, November 11, 2023, 1 o’clock p.m. at the Toccoa First United Methodist Church with The Reverend Brent White and The Reverend April Briant officiating.
Inurnment will follow at the Toccoa First United Methodist Columbarium with The Reverend Brent White and The Reverend April Briant officiating. Military presentation of the flag will be by the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Toccoa First United Methodist Church, 333 E. Tugalo Street, Toccoa, Georgia 30577 in memory of Mr. William Leon Kay.
