Gracie Louvenia Dorsey Morrow was born to Hugh Dorsey & Remell Hendrix on April 4, 1938 in Clairmont, Ga. She was affectionately known as “Grace” or “Granny” to her friends and family. She departed this life on October 28, 2023.
Gracie was the first born of four sisters: Trudy, Brenda, and Wanda Ann. She was truly a gentle spirit from the beginning. As a young girl, she lived on much-loved farmland in Clairmont, Ga with her beloved Aunt Addie and farm animals, her closest friends. She later moved to Gainesville, Ga and attended Fair Street High School, where she graduated in 1957. She then began eight years working at Mint’s Jewelers on the Historic Square in Gainesville. In 1964, Gracie married Robert “Snig” Morrow. Their union of 16 years birthed one beautiful daughter, Suzanne. Shifting from her career as a jewelry store clerk, Gracie then worked at New Holland Mill for 13 years. She retired from ConAgra Poultry Company after 16 years in 2000. As a faithful, lifelong member of Gainesville’s St. John Baptist Church, Gracie sang soprano in the church choir for many years. She has loved spending her final days with friends at the Gainesville Senior Center.
Gracie was always known for her kind nature, love of music and animals, friendly personality, and a dedication to her community of Gainesville, Ga. Her love for the Lord was evident in the joy she spread to so many around her.
She leaves to cherish her memory her only child and daughter Suzanne Gallo, her sister Brenda Hendrix, and the grandchildren who she had great love for: Nicole Sewell, Ashia Gallo, Amia Sewell, Olivia Sewell, and Kori Turner. We also recognize Gracie’s loving nephew Gerald Clark, and dedicated niece Delitha Morrow Coles. Gracie leaves a host of relatives and special friends who were all blessed to know her.
