James Arthur Prater, 80, of Clermont, GA went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 12, 2023.
All who knew Jim know he was a man who lived life to the fullest. His family meant everything to him. A great day for Jim involved picking his guitar or going to antique car shows. This man found music wherever he went; even when traveling abroad, he joined a group playing in England on his 70th birthday. Jim built guitars and restored cars as hobbies. Tracing his ancestry and finding his relatives was another hobby of his.
Jim is survived by the one true love of his life, his wife, Mary Ellen Prater; his daughters, Dr. Barbara Rowan (Dr. James Rowan) and Michelle Prater; and his granddaughter Amanda Rowan. He is also survived by his granddaughter-in-love Kadyn Harper; his great-grandson-in-love Nijah Harrison; his brothers Robert Wade (Lolita) and Tom Wade (Pam), and their families.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at Trinity United Methodist Church in Clermont, GA. The Rev. Jeremy Noffsinger will officiate the service.
The family asks in lieu of flowers that donations be made to Trinity United Methodist Church in Memory of Jim. W. R. Strickland & Sons, Clermont, GA.
