Thelma Maddox Swancey

Thelma Maddox Swancey, age 90 of Pendergrass, Georgia went home to be with her Lord & Savior on October 13, 2023.

Thelma was a lifetime resident of Jackson County. She was born in Pendergrass to her late Parents, Rev. L. C. Maddox & Ellie Mae (Irvin) Maddox on July 12, 1933. Thelma came to know Jesus as her personal Savior as a teen and was of the Baptist faith. She graduated from Braselton High School in 1951 and later retired from Barrow Manufacturing in Winder.

Thelma was a dedicated and loving daughter, wife, sister, and aunt. She delighted in simple things in life. Thelma enjoyed beautiful flowers, spending time with family, making cakes and puddings to share, attending church, reading the Bible, and anything chocolate. She had a gentle sweet spirit and a heartfelt smile that let you know she was truly glad to see you.

In addition to her parents, Thelma is preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Swancey and her twin brother Rev. Elmer Maddox.

Thelma will be lovingly remembered by her niece and nephew-in-law, Brenda and Billy Ledford of Gainesville; great nephew, Luke Ledford of Gainesville; sisters-in-law, Betty Maddox of Pendergrass and Martha Crowe of Winder.

Graveside service and interment will be held at 4 PM on Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at Walnut Fork Baptist Church in Braselton, with Rev. Steve Lewallen officiating. Family will receive friends at Memorial Park Braselton Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 18, 2023 from 2PM to 4PM.
