Richard Benjamin Springston

Obituary Date: Tuesday, October 3, 2023

Richard Benjamin Springston, better known as Ben or Daddy to his friends and family, has left this earth to continue his soul’s journey. Ben was born in Schwabisch Gmund, Germany, June 28, 1984.

He is survived by his son and buddy in life, Porter Springston, his brother and buddy in life, Jake Springston, his father and buddy in life, Ric Springston, and his mother and buddy in life, Marleen Springston. Ben is also survived by 5 uncles, 3 aunts, 10 cousins and a niece named Charlie Ann Springston.

Ben is preceded in death by his grandparents, Richard and Marie Springston, and Fred and Gloria Malone.

He was raised in Buford, Georgia where he was the 1st chair violinist at his middle school in Buford and then went on to Buford High School where he earned a football state championship ring his senior year and graduated in 2002. We have it on good authority that Ben never lost on a board drill while at Buford.

Ben found it a privilege to work at Akin Ford in Winder, Georgia, where he worked for 14 years.

Ben’s son, Porter was the love of his life and they enjoyed mountain biking and fishing in their free time. In fact, Porter holds the 5 year old’s record mountain biking course time for a trail in North Georgia. Ben shared his love of dogs with Porter and there’s not a dog around that Porter isn’t ready to take home with him!

Ben is well known to his friends and family for giving the best hugs and for or bringing even more joy to any celebration. He is also known for being in the present…in-the-moment and focused-in on his relationships with a level of sincerity that has knit his heart to others forever. He is particularly recognized by others for his ability to fix anything.

His memory will serve as an inspiration to all who knew him.

Services will be held at The Chapel of Free Chapel on McEver Road, Sunday October 8, 2023.  Visiting with family and friends will be between 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., with a service at 4:00 p.m. followed by a reception at Free Chapel where all are invited to share their love stories of Ben.
