Martha Ann Thompson affectionately known as “Tuddi” was born on August 7th, 1955, in Gainesville, Ga to the late James and Odessa (Bailey) Stephens. On Saturday September 30, 2023, she left her physical body and became a citizen of God’s glorious kingdom.
She attended Gainesville city school systems and was employed by Hall County jail and housekeeping at Northeast Georgia Medical Center but, was primarily a homemaker where she diligently cared for her family. She took great pride in the cleanliness of her home, preparing meals, and the rearing of her sons.
She was a praying woman and covered all her family and friends in prayer. She enjoyed talking about the Lord and quoting scriptures. Martha was adamant about knowing the Lord and for her family to also ensure that they had a personal relationship with the Lord. In her earlier years she brought her sons up as members of Antioch Baptist Church in Gainesville, Ga where she served as an usher and, later joined her husband as a member of St. Paul Methodist Church in Gainesville, Ga.
Martha was a friend to so many and never met a stranger. She was very loving, had a crazy sense of humor, enjoyed reading, playing solitaire, spending time and socializing with loved ones, caring for others, but didn’t bite her tongue when she felt something needed to be corrected. In her alone time she enjoyed gospel music and sitting on her porch enjoying nature. One of her hobbies was collecting a variety of elephant figurines.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents, James and Odessa (Bailey) Stephens, her brother David Stephens, and her sister Ruthine Moon.
She leaves to cherish her influence and memories to her husband Richard Thompson, sons: Dawon Thompson and Marty (Shemila) Thompson, granddaughters: Iriana Thompson and Amarya Crane, step-granddaughter: Shatora Butler, mother-in-law: Annie B. Thompson, sister: Betty (Gary) Maxey, brothers: Donald Stephens and Mike (Vivian) Stephens, her adorable grand-dog Kloe and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
