Helen Louise Hewett

Obituary Date: Friday, September 29, 2023

Helen Louise Hewett, known to her loved ones as Helen, passed away on September 29, 2023, at the age of 92 at Friendship Health and Rehab in Cleveland, GA. She was born on December 19, 1930, in Shallotte, NC, to her parents Clyde and Ruth Chadwick.

 

Helen was an extremely loving and devoted mother and grandmother. She had a passion for animals especially her beloved dog Bennie. She was an excellent cook, teaching her daughters and granddaughters how to cook and always eager to feed everyone. Her sense of humor brought joy and laughter to those around her, she was always ready to give advice to those in need. Helen will be remembered for her kind and giving spirit. She lived a fulfilling life, leaving behind cherished memories for her loved ones. She was a devoted follower of Jesus and found solace and strength in her faith.

 

Helen is survived by her grandchildren: Kristina Martineau (Marty) of Jacksonville, FL, Deborah Moss of Gainesville, GA, Alan Thompson (Khyrs) of Flowery Branch, GA, and Cury Tipton (Mandy) of Cocoa, FL; son-in-law, Brien Thompson, Cleveland, GA. 

 

Helen leaves 10 Great-Grandchildren and 7 Great-Great-Grandchildren as well as a host of Nieces and Nephews.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Ruth Chadwick, Husband, James Edwin Hewett, her Daughter, Gloria Thompson of Cleveland, GA and her Daughter, Teresa Wactor of Jacksonville, FL.

 

As an Army wife, Helen was no stranger to the sacrifices and challenges that come with military life. She provided unwavering support to her husband during his service with multiple relocations retiring in Rockledge, FL, Jacksonville, FL and ending the days of her life in Cleveland, GA.

 

In addition to her role as a military spouse, Helen was a devoted homemaker and restaurant manager. Her dedication and hard work made a lasting impact on those she served.

 

Memorial services for Helen will be scheduled for a later date to ensure that all family members can be present to honor her memory.

 

Donations can be made to the Mercy Full Project Animal Rescue in her memory.
