Annie Ruth Blackwell McCan was born on April 12, 1928 in Lavonia, GA to the late Richard Blackwell and the late Viola Blackwell. On September 27, 2023, the angels came to take to her eternal home in heaven. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis McCan and her sister Claudie Mae Neal.
Annie Ruth lived a long and full life and was loved by many in her family and community. She was known for being feisty and for her quick-witted responses to any nonsense she encountered throughout her life. Although small in appearance, her personality was huge and would fill a room with smiles and laughter.
Annie Ruth is survived by her daughter, Shirley Ann McCan; three grandchildren, Christopher L. (Jessica Carroll) McCan, Thomas F. McCan, and LaDonna M. McCan; her beloved great grandchildren, Ja’Shay McCan, Morgan McNeil, MyKenzie McCan, Natreyvious Martin, Natayvious Martin, Christopher McCan Jr and Keira McCan; Dennis L. McCan, Jr. who was raised in the home; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday October 4, 2023 at 1pm at Dexter T. Sims Mortuary, LLC, Royston. Viewing will be Tuesday October 3, 2023 from 2pm-7pm. The family will receive family and friends from 5pm-7pm.
