John Martin Hardy, Sr.

John Martin Hardy, Sr., 90, of Cumming passed away Friday, September 29, 2023 at his residence.

Born May 1, 1933 in Rockmart, GA to the late Benjamin Franklin and Sarah Rebecca Hardy, he lived in Forsyth County for the past 12 years having moved from Dawson County.  Mr. Hardy retired from the Heating & Air Industry and was formerly a driver for Yellow Freight Lines.  He enjoyed wood crafting, photography, and writing music and stories.  An avid musician, he was inducted into the Georgia Country Music Hall Of Fame. A member of Grace Baptist Church, he was also preceded in death by his sisters, Jackie Peacock, Nora Nell Burton, Catherine Bowermann, Nancy Searcy; and brothers, Frank Hardy and Jimmy Hardy.

Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Frances Hamrick Hardy, Cumming; daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Edward Giddings, Kalamazoo, MI; sons and daughters-in-law, John, Jr. and June Hardy, Dawsonville, Frank and Lauren Hardy, Canton; grandchildren, Jeremy Stuckey, Kenneth Stuckey, Sophie Hardy, Emma Hardy, Ellie Sue Hamrick, Emily Hamrick, Jesse Giddings; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, October 7, 2023 at 11 o’clock at Sawnee View Gardens.  Rev. Tim Long and Rev. Eddie Treadway will officiate.
