Johnnie LaCount Payne

Mrs. Johnnie LaCount Payne, age 75 of North Abbey Lane Court, Toccoa passed away Sunday, September 24, 2023 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center Braselton.

A daughter of the late Robert L. LaCount, Sr. and Elvie Brock LaCount, she was born April 5, 1948 in Habersham County, Georgia, having lived most of her life in Toccoa.  She was employed with Toccoa Elementary Lunchroom for a number of years and was a member of Toccoa Church of Christ.  She was a loving mother and grandmother and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren and her sister, Louse.  She enjoyed yard sales and thrifting. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, James Thomas Payne in 2022, brother, Robert LaCount, Jr. and by a sister, Shirley Weeks.

Survivors include her husband of the home, John Payne, Sr.; son, John Payne, Jr. of Toccoa; grandchildren, Dawson Payne, Brian Payne and Jordan Wilson all of Toccoa; sisters, Louise Lathan of Toccoa and Rachel Sikes of Florida; brother and sister-in-law, Lewis and Sara LaCount of Toccoa; a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Friday, September 29, 2023, 2 o’clock p.m. at the Toccoa Church of Christ with Mr. Dawson Payne and Mr. Robert Gunn officiating.  The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Dawson Payne, Brian Payne, Jordan Wilson, Chris Thomas and Lance Brawner. Honorary pallbearers will be John Payne, Sr. and John Payne, Jr.

The family will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Thursday, 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Friday from 12 p.m. until 1:30 p.m.  Online condolences may be left for the family at www.acree-davisfh.com.

Interment will follow in the Stephens Memorial Gardens with the Acree-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory in charge of the arrangements for Mrs. Johnnie LaCount Payne.
