Frank W. Edwards, 88 of Cleveland, passed away on Sunday, September 24, 2023, from trauma created by hernia surgery. Mr. Edwards was born on December 5, 1934, to the late Thomas and Jessie Palmer Edwards.
Survived by his wife of 27 years, LaMerle Freeman Edwards, daughters & sons-in-law Sharon & Roy Hall, Vicky & Jeff Frankum, grandsons Adam Frankum & Dustin Frankum, one Great Granddaughter and four Great Grandsons, one sister and brother-in-law Velma & Jim Hedberg of Phoenix, AZ, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by his brother W.L. (Dub) Edwards, sisters Lucille Bowen, Katie McCollum, Jessie Mae Thurmond, Polly Hallock, and Charlotte Bush.
Frank graduated from Cleveland High School which only required eleven years attendance. He attended North Georgia College and finished the ROTC Program before serving our country in the US Army with a one-year tour of Korea. His first job was with Ames Textile in Cleveland. He was inclined to business and owned and operated a fabric and men's ware store in Gainesville. Throughout his school and college years he participated in all types of sports. Later in life he became a horse trainer and then a farmer.
During his super senior years, he watched every type of sports.... especially tennis and the Atlanta Braves. He was an avid book reader and enjoyed writing about things that meant something to him.
In the spring and summer, a day rarely passed that you wouldn't see Frank out on a tractor or lawn mower tending to the farm. His watermelons became county famous and earned him the name of Farmer Frank. He would take watermelons to the Farmer's Market and the local IGA Grocery Store. Frank was also known as a horse trainer. He raised and trained Tennessee Walkers and loved trail riding every day possible with LaMerle.
Frank's LOVE for Chattahoochee Baptist Church was at the top of his list. He worked toward seeing the larger sanctuary completed and encouraged everyone to make donations to the building fund.
Frank W. Edwards' warm spirit and BIG smile will be greatly missed by his family and everyone that knew him.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at Chattahoochee Baptist Church. The Rev. Chris Anderson and the Rev. J.R. Elrod will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
