John Doyle Brown

Obituary Date: Friday, September 22, 2023

John Doyle Brown, commonly known as Mickey Brown passed peacefully the morning of September 22nd, 2023, after a gradual decline in health. He was surrounded and supported by his loving family and caregivers during the last days of his life.

John was born on June 18th, 1940, in Gainesville, Ga to Mary and Clarence Brown. He had 7 siblings, (brothers) Carlton Brown, Robert Lee Brown, Eugene Brown, and Clarence Brown Jr. (sisters) Shirley

Mize, Linda Thorpe, and Annette Westbrook.

In 1963 he married LaTisha Haley and had two children, Vicki Pryor, and Tori Brown. He worked as a fibro optic technician at Lucent Technologies for 23 years until he retired in 2001. Mickey was a collector of memorabilia, and a lover of music. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, bowling, barbecuing, and game nights where he played cards with his friends and neighbors. John “Mickey” Brown played baseball in his younger years. He was involved in several clubs such as the Esquire Club, The Gents Club, and the 500 Bowling Team.

John is predeceased by Shirley Mize, Linda Thorpe, and Clarence Brown Jr. 

He is survived by his wife LaTisha Brown, (daughters) Vicki Pryor and Tori Brown (grandchildren) Danielle Jackson and Ciceley Lanier his (great grandchildren) Makhyla Bailey, Amari Lanier, Genesis Jackson, Ciyanah Lanier, Kitai Lanier and a host of nieces and nephews.

The viewing will be Sunday, October 1st between the hours of 1-8pm at Wimberly Funeral Home. The family will also be receiving friends between the hours of 7-8pm. 

Mr. Brown's Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, October 2nd at the hour of 11am at St. John Baptist Church. Professional Services Entrusted to Wimberly Funeral Home.
