James (Jimmy) Walter Messer of Buford, Georgia at the age of 74 peacefully went to be with the lord on September 8, 2023.
Life celebration will be held Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at 2pm at Ivy Creek Baptist Church where he was a member. Rev. Alvin Hobgood and Rev. Craig Dale will officiate. The family will receive friends on Monday, September 11, 2023 from 5pm – 8pm at Hamilton Mill Memorial Chapel & Gardens.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his son Kevin and parents Ernest and Virginia Messer and brother Steve Messer. Jimmy is survived by his wife, Mary Messer, daughter and son-in-law Kelley and Craig Joslin and grandson Britt along with many loving aunts, uncles and cousins.
Jimmy was born on November 2, 1948 in Atlanta, Georgia. He graduated from Fulton County High School and shortly thereafter went to work for the City of Atlanta Fire Department. Jimmy then began his own business as a successful residential home builder and developer in Gwinnett County until his retirement in 1992.
Jimmy has always been an avid golfer and after retiring spent his leisure time enjoying a round of golf with his friends of many years. He was a member of Monroe Golf and Country Club for several years where he served on the Board.
In 2007 Jimmy and a couple of friends founded American Street Rodders Car Club where he served as passed President and Treasurer.
Jimmy had a great love of family, golf and cars. If you were a friend of Jimmy’s you were his family.
He will be remembered for his love of family and friends and his passion for helping others.
