Ralph Dean Anderson

Ralph Dean Anderson, age 91, of Murrayville (Lumpkin County) passed away early in the morning of Thursday, September 7, 2023, following an extended illness.  

Mr. Anderson was born on September 2, 1932 and was a lifelong resident of the Mount Zion Community.  He was the son of the late Boyd and Maudie Anderson of Dahlonega.  In addition to his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Joyce Ann Martin Anderson, of Cleveland, as well as all his brothers and sisters.

Mr. Anderson is survived by nieces Brenda Southern of Marietta, Linda Rogers and her husband Carl of Cleveland, Colleen Young and her husband L.D. of Dahlonega, Belynnsa Call and her husband Chris of Woodstock; nephews, David Dockery and his wife Nancy of Cleveland, Kip Dockery and his wife Karen of Cleveland, Dean Anderson and his wife Sandra of Kennesaw, Lanny Blair and his wife Rachael of Port St. Joseph, FL, Harry Anderson and his wife Susan of Marietta and Steve Blair of Panama City, FL.  Also surviving are many great-nephews and nieces and their families, his church family, and a host of wonderful friends and neighbors, including special friend, Eulene Poore of Dahlonega, and faithful neighbor and friend Doug Cochran of Murrayville.

Mr. Anderson retired from the Lumpkin County School System after 31 years of driving a bus and several more years of serving as Maintenance Supervisor.  Mr. Anderson was a faithful member and deacon of Mt. Zion Baptist Church #2 and was always ready and willing to help a neighbor or family.  Mr. Anderson was a member of the Blue Mountain No. 38 Grand Mason Lodge of Georgia.

Visitation will be at Mount Zion Baptist Church #2 from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM on Sunday, September 10.  Funeral services for Mr. Anderson will be held at 4:00 pm on Sunday, September 10, 2023 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church #2.

Rev. Stephen Gerrells, Rev. Les Fuller, and Rev. Coby Gilleland will be officiating.

Interment will follow in the Mount Zion #2 cemetery.

Anderson-Underwood Funeral Home of Dahlonega is in charge of arrangements.
