Hilda Olivet Jensen

My best friend and love of my life, Hilda Olivet Jensen age 75 of Buford, Georgia went home to be with Jesus on Friday, September 1, 2023.

Hilda was born July 7, 1948, in Tucker, Georgia, a daughter of Forest Olivet and Dorothy Pugh Olivet.  She spent most of her formative years growing up in Buford.  She graduated from North Gwinnett High School, Class of 1966 and attended Young Harris College.

Hilda had several careers including a flight attendant with Delta Air Lines, owner of a shoe store, executive assistant to two different company CEO’s, and founder and president of a background search firm, Human Assets South, Inc.  Hilda was a founding member of NAPBS, National Association of Professional Background Screeners, heading up their recruiting and retention activities.  Hilda had planned to sell her business for us to retire.

Retirement was interrupted on October 5, 2014, when Hilda suffered a brain aneurism. By the grace of God and skillful doctors at Emory University Hospital she survived.  The ensuing 9 years would be filled with numerous physical ups and downs.  Pain became her constant companion which she faced with determination and courage.  The things she missed most were her business and cooking. Hilda was a member of Temple Baptist Church where she enjoyed the love, companionship, and spirituality of the congregation.

Hilda is survived by her husband, Leon; stepchildren, Andrew Jensen, Sparks, Nevada, Amber Veney (Tyler), Blairsville, Georgia, and Tyler Jensen (Jana), Suwanee, Georgia; grandsons, Lane Jenson and Landon Jenson, Murray Utah, and Jackson Pittson, Flowery Branch, Georgia: sister and brother in-law, Sherry and Jerry McDaniel, Buford, Georgia, brother in-law and sister in-law Jerold and Lee Anna Jensen, Salt Lake City, Utah.

Hilda is preceded in death by her parents; stepson, M. Lane Jensen; father in-law, Senator Moroni L. Jensen and mother in-law Senator Vivian N. Jensen.

A special thank you to Tammy Evans for being a dedicated and loving caregiver for Hilda over the past seven years.

Funeral service will be held Friday, September 8, 2023 at 1:00 pm at Hamilton Mill Memorial Chapel.  Pastor Steve Pritchett officiating. Interment will follow at Broadlawn Memorial Gardens, Buford, Georgia. The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 7, 2023 from 6 to 8 pm at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Friday.
