Shelia Melissa “Lesia” Garland Chatham

Mrs. Shelia Melissa “Lesia” Garland Chatham, age 61 of Cawthon Road, Toccoa passed away Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center after a brief illness.

A daughter of Nell Kesler Garland and the late Richard Faite “Bucky” Garland, she was born August 5, 1962 in Stephens County, Georgia where she lived all her life.  She was a 1980 graduate of Stephens County High School. She was a homemaker.  She loved cooking and loved her family and friends dearly.  She loved to travel, especially to the beach and to the mountains.  She was preceded in death by her father, Richard Faite “Bucky” Garland.

Survivors include her mother, Nell Kesler Garland of Toccoa; husband, Mike Chatham; son, Faite Chatham of Athens; sister and brother-in-law, Milly and Bob Longmire of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida; nephew, Rhett Longmire of Woodstock; niece, Emrys Longmire of Woodstock; cousins, Bryan Kesler of Toccoa and Aiden Smith of Cleveland and several other cousins; aunt, Myrna McLane of Dallas, Georgia.

Her wishes were to be cremated.  The family will have a private service at a later date.
