Mr. Roy Lee Gibson, age 79, of Dahlonega, peacefully passed away on August 20, 2023, surrounded by loved ones. He leaves a legacy marked by his entrepreneurial spirit, devotion to family, and warm sense of humor.
Mr. Gibson was a native and lifelong resident of Lumpkin County. He was born on October 15, 1943, to the late James "Raleigh" and Mattie Dowdy Gibson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters Fannie Lois Stutzman (Bob), Bertie Mae Cain (Horace); brothers Robert C. Gibson, Dorsey Gibson, Ernest Gibson (Frances), and granddaughter Isabella Spampinato.
Mr. Gibson's journey through life was one of dedication and achievement. He was a proud graduate of Lumpkin County High School. He then attended and graduated from North Georgia Technical College, studying TV and Radio repair. Mr. Gibson began his career in Gainesville and Cumming until 1977, when he opened his own business. For 35 years, he passionately led and nurtured Gibson TV and Service.
In 1997, Roy Lee found another source of joy when he married his beloved wife, becoming a loving and supportive husband. Through this union, he also embraced the role of stepfather, demonstrating his capacity for care and selflessness that extended beyond his immediate family. He was a member and Past Master of Blue Mountain Masonic Lodge 38. Mr. Gibson was a member of Siloam Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of twenty-six years, Lois Gibson; children Jeromy Fenton (Jennifer) and Jessica Sauter (Ryan); grandchildren Connor Kruzich and Kerri Rosser; brother Stan Gibson; sisters-in-law Virginia Gibson and Gladys Gibson; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Funeral services are scheduled at Siloam Baptist Church at 11:00 am on Friday, August 25, 2023. The Rev. Tony Allison, the Rev. Casey Robinson, and the Rev. Lyman Caldwell will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Masonic rites. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 6:00 to 8:00 pm Thursday at the funeral home.
