Aaron Matthew Hopkins, age 52, of Demorest, GA passed away on Saturday, August 5, 2023.
Born in Torrance, California on March 3, 1971, he was the son of Craig Hopkins of Clarkesville, GA & Esther Saavedra Bloom of Hermosa Beach, CA. Aaron was in the custom classic auto fabrication and restoration industry for many years and was most recently working as a set dresser for the film industry.
Aaron had a special and extreme joy for life that included his passions of BMX biking, drawing, kayaking, taking pictures, motocross, and cooking. Most of all, he loved his family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, MaryBeth Salko Hopkins and daughters Skyler & Chloe Hopkins of Demorest, GA; his father & stepmother Craig & Denise Hopkins of Clarkesville, GA; mother Esther Saavedra Bloom of Hermosa Beach, CA; twin brother Jason (wife, Monica) Hopkins of Richmond, VA; sister Dawn Hopkins Williams of Redondo Beach, CA; 8 nieces & 2 nephews; a host of friends, & his beloved pets.
For those who knew Aaron, the skate park was his second home. He never missed a Tabletop Tuesday, or the chance to share his awesome stories & skills with younger bikers. He wouldn’t hesitate to jump in when someone needed help, or to start a conversation and make a friend. He touched countless lives, everywhere and anywhere he went. There is no one else with the kind of fervor for life and unconditional love that Aaron gave freely and abundantly. He was a light to all that knew him: the hardest worker, a soulmate and true love to MaryBeth, a loving son and brother, the silliest uncle, & the most rad dad.
Aaron never wanted to see a day when he couldn’t ride his bike. He is in every set of wheels, every sunrise, flower, ocean wave, flat-brimmed hat, & pair of Vans. He will be dearly missed.
