Mrs. Sara Mae Rider Holbrooks, age 89 of Cedar Fork Road, Toccoa passed away Monday, August 14, 2023 at her residence.
A daughter of the late Frank and Margaret Mae Edmonds Rider, she was born December 1, 1933 in Stephens County, Georgia where she lived all her life. She was a homemaker and a member of Old Toccoa Baptist Church. She loved gardening, working in her flowers and crocheting. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was the last member of her immediate family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Claborn Holbrooks, Sr., two brothers, Claude Rider and Billy Rider, three sisters, Maryleen Rider, Betty Lovingood and Bonnie Eller and by a son-in-law, Calvin Young.
Survivors include two daughters, Marie Young of Thomson, Georgia and Karen Holbrooks of Toccoa; sons, James C. Holbrooks, Jr. of Homer, Jack Holbrooks and Jody Holbrooks both of Tococa; grandchildren, Camille and Jeff Rodgers, Sonya Young, Christian and Ian Rivera, James C. Holbrooks, III and Keisha, Candice Holbrooks, Crystal Johnson and William A. Holbrooks; eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Thursday, August 17, 2023, 11 o’clock a.m. in the Hillcrest Chapel of the Acree-Davis Funeral Home with The Reverend Roger Elrod officiating. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Tommy Eller, Tony Eller, Henry Rider, Johnny Singleton, James C. Holbrooks, III and Alex Holbrooks.
The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Wednesday, 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.acree-davisfh.com.
Interment will follow in the Old Toccoa Baptist Church Cemetery with the Acree-Davis Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements for Mrs. Sara Mae Rider Holbrooks.
