Sara Elizabeth Youngblood Mullinax

Sara Elizabeth Youngblood Mullinax, passed away August 12, 2023 at Golden Manor Senior Living, Buford, GA at the age of 87 with her best friend, Patricia Weathers and cousin Betty Warbington by her side.

Sara was born May 5, 1936 in Buford, GA to the late Virgil M. Youngblood and the late Blanche Benson Youngblood. She was the only daughter and grew up with 3 older brothers, the late Claude M Youngblood, the late Samuel "Perry" Youngblood, and the late Benjamin W. Youngblood.

Sara graduated from Sugar Hill High School in 1953 and kept in touch with many classmates up until her death. She played the piano proficiently from the age of 12 years old and she carried this talent to many churches, schools, and to whomever would listen. She later self-taught herself to play the organ which made her very versatile and in high demand for weddings, funerals, nursing home visits, and to accompany any soloist, trio, or quartet when the time was needed. Her vocals were also in high demand at any and all functions as listed above. As family we would always gather around the piano at all holidays and sing, sing, sing. Sara also taught voice and piano lessons for many years in the 1960's and some of her students became very successful.      

Sara retired from Wachovia/Wells Fargo Bank in 2007 with 40 years of service.

Having no children of her own, she treated all of her Nephews, Nieces, and step-children as her own. Sara is survived by Nephews Sammy (Julie) Youngblood, Statum, GA, Kevin (Amy) Youngblood, Gainesville, GA, Nephew-in-law Richard Gilbert, Suwanee, GA, Nieces Joan Youngblood Beard, Snellville, Ga, Kathie Youngblood (Tom) Glass, Houston, TX, Jennifer Youngblood (Bryan) Callaway, Elberton, GA. Several Great Nephews and Nieces and Great-Great nephews and nieces also. 

Step-Children: The children of Calvin "Buddy" Crider, the children of Doyle Aldridge, and the children of Ralph Mullinax. A very special sister-in-law Runell Puckett Youngblood and many cousins from the Youngblood and Benson families.

Sara was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, a sister-in-law Mary Frances Youngblood and niece Susan Youngblood Gilbert, husbands Calvin "Buddy" Crider, Doyle Aldridge, and Ralph Mullinax. 

Special thanks to her personal doctors, staff at Golden Manor Senior Living, and all her friends and church family for visits, cards, and words of encouragement. 

The family will receive friends at Zion Hill Baptist Church, Buford, GA from 11:00 until 1:00 August 17, 2023 with service following at 1:00. Interment will follow in Zion Hill Baptist Church cemetery.
