David Ellsworth Pierce

David Ellsworth Pierce, age 91, of Suwanee, GA passed away on Saturday, August 12, 2023.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Burnette Pierce of 54 years; parents, George and Evelyn Waldron Pierce, Sr.; siblings, Barbara (Jim) Echols, George (Jean) Pierce, Jr., Elizabeth (Roy) Payne, Velma (Jim) McLaughin, John Pierce, Albert Pierce; great granddaughter, Lila Reed.  He is survived by his son, David (Robyn) Pierce, Jr Suwanee; daughters, Debra (David) Reed, Suwanee, Jeanette Pierce, Sherri Coffman, Suwanee; 7 grandchildren, Chad (Rachel) Reed, Grayson, GA, Zackary Reed, Cornelia, GA, Trudie (Steven) Capes, Madison, AL, Heather Maddox, Sugar Hill, GA, Stuart (Lindsay) Pierce, Slidell, LA, Kati (Kyler) Keegan, Slidell, LA, Abby (Ashe) Ricks, Slidell; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Martha Pierce, Suwanee, Ellen Pierce, Ariton, AL; many nieces and nephews.  Mr. Pierce was born on January 3, 1932 in Chamblee, GA.  He was a 1952 graduate of Chamblee High School.  He then enlisted in the Marine Corps and served in the Korean War. He worked at General Motor, Doraville, C&S Bank in 1968 installing the first instant bank machines.  He then became self-employed and started building houses.  He was a member of the Suwanee United Methodist Church and enjoyed building, riding his mower, tractor and his golf cart and having family and friends over to his pool and grilling out.  He loved telling his history stories to anyone who would listen.  He was proud of being the first chief of the Suwanee volunteer fire department.  David will be remembered for his love of family and friends.  Funeral services will be held Friday, August 18, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with Rev. Heechul Parc and Leigh Cunningham officiating.  The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 17, 2023 at Flanigan Funeral Home, Buford, GA.  Interment will follow at Suwanee United Methodist Church Cemetery with Military Honors.
