Larry Joe Garrett

Larry Joe Garrett, 80, of Dawsonville passed away Sunday, August 6, 2023 at his residence following an extended illness.

Born March 23, 1943 to the late Floyd and Katie Garrett, Larry had been a resident of Dawson County for most of his life.  He was a master mechanic, skilled heavy equipment operator, and farmer.  Larry was also an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. 

Surviving are his wife, Margie McCormick Garrett of Dawsonville; sons and daughter-in-law, Eddie Joe Garrett of Dawsonville, Steve Larry and Barbara Garrett of Lawrenceville; grandchildren, Russell Garrett (Krista) of Dawsonville, Kiley Garrett Wood (Nick) of Bethlehem; great-grandchildren, Brantley Garrett, Austin Garrett, Connor Wood, Charlie Wood; sister, Sis Gibson of Dawsonville; brothers, Butch Garrett, Ronnie Garrett (Connie), Mike Garrett (Hayley) all of Dawsonville; uncle, Tommy Joe Garrett of Cumming.

Larry was preceded in death by a grandson, Brandon Miller; brother, Jerry Garrett; brother-in-law, Jerry Gibson; sister-in-law, Helen Garrett.

The family is planning a celebration of life to be held at a later date.
