Michael Wayne Random

Mr. Michael Wayne Random, 71, of Gainesville, passed away Saturday, August 5, 2023 at Northside Forsyth Hospital following a sudden illness.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 19, 2023 at Christ Lutheran Church, 3612 Old Oakwood Rd., Oakwood, GA 30566 with Pastor Andy Seibert officiating.

Born on February 17, 1952 in Atlanta, he was the son of the late Rodney H. Random and the late Anna Mae Minzes Random. He was a retired homebuilder and a proud Veteran of the United States Army. 

“Mike” as he was affectionally known to his family and friends was a devoted father, avid fisherman, and adored “Paw-Paw”. He was the oldest of all his siblings, commonly referred to him as Gubbie by his littlest sister.  Mike was known for his uncanny sense of humor.   Other hobbies included spicy cooking, traveling with family, and his membership with the Lanier Bassmaster since 1974.  Mike was most proud of his high school sweetheart Darlene, whom he had met at 17 years old and married at 19 years of age. Married for 51 years, Mike was a fierce family man, loving, and kind.  Mike attended Church at Christ Lutheran in Oakwood. He will be greatly missed by his wife, family, especially his 6 grandchildren. Mike has always been there for his family and was loved by them tremendously.

Mr. Random is survived by his wife of 51 years, Darlene Random of Gainesville; daughter and son in law, Tammy and Jeffrey Reed of Canton; son and daughter in law, Jody and Jordan Random of Gainesville; grandchildren, Ariel Reed, Aurora Reed, Liam Random, Ella Random, Aubrey Random, Elise Random; brother, Danny Random; sisters and brother in law, Linda McCaulla of Cumming, Cindy and Ricky Martin of Gainesville and a number of nieces, nephews and other loving relatives.
