Betty Ann Keirn Hull

Obituary Date: Thursday, August 3, 2023

Mrs. Betty Ann Keirn Hull, 100, of Gainesville, passed away Thursday, August 3, 2023.

Memorial services will be held at 11 AM Saturday, August 12, 2023 at the First Presbyterian Church of Gainesville, Georgia at 800 S. Enota Drive.  Rev. Lee Koontz will officiate.

Born on February 20, 1923, in Akron, Ohio, Betty was the daughter of the late Paul and Mildred Keirn.  In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Herbert Donald Hull and her granddaughter, Kerry Wood (Brian) Bardorf.

Betty is survived by her children David (Margaret) Hull of Fort Worth, Texas, Christine Hull (Larry) Wood of Woodstock, Georgia, and Patricia Hull Morelli of Savannah, Georgia; her grandchildren Melanie (Joseph) Powers, L. Paige (Nathan) Mansperger, Kevin (Kavita) Morelli, Matthew Morelli, Megan (Brittain) Montgomery; and her great grandchildren J. Patrick Powers, Elizabeth Powers, Clancy Powers, Grady Mansperger, Wren Mansperger, and August Morelli; and her grand dogs Seamus, Max, Lily, and Edison.

Betty went to Central high School in Akron, Ohio; University of Akron (two years pre-med and pledged Zeta Tau Alpha); she worked after school as a shoe company cashier, department store elevator operator and clerk.  Her civilian service was with Goodyear Aircraft in the Payroll Department.

 

She had several occupations during her life:  Junior Tire Designer in the Engineering Department of the General Tire Company; Boy Scout den mother for two years; Girl Scout leader for 17 years for Cadettes and Seniors as well as for a troop in the Little Red Schoolhouse for special children for 13 years.  She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Gainesville, Georgia serving as a deacon, teacher, circle leader, Stephen Minister and leader, member of the Basic Sunday School class and Wonderful Works, office volunteer, coordinator of the cancer support group, and a member of the bereavement group.

Among her superior qualities was her patience exemplified by her ability to teach many girl scouts how to water ski!   She was a great cook as well as a wonderful photographer of all of her husband’s singing and acting performances.  She was a consummate caregiver for her family and all she encountered.  She was greatly loved by all her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, as well as all who were so fortunate to know her.  She was loved by all and will be greatly missed.
