David Charles Mitchell, age 53, of Dacula, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, July 26, 2023. He was preceded in death by his father, Edwin Charles Mitchell, Jr.; and half brother, Jerry Light. He is survived by his mother, Janet Mitchell, Atlanta, GA; 2 precious sons, who were the light of his world, Preston Charles Mitchell and Mason Brice Mitchell, Dacula, GA; his girlfriend, whom he lovingly shared life with for nearly a decade, Elizabeth (Liz) Garcia Goodwin, Lawrenceville, GA; and 3 sisters, Debbie Longo (Tom); Lori Neese (Steve); Donna Wallace (Dean); and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mr. Mitchell was born August 30, 1969 in Decatur, Georgia. He was a graduate of Towers High School in Decatur, Georgia. David had a remarkable career with The Waffle House Corporation for over 30 years. He started his journey there in the warehouse in 1991 and proudly worked in some capacity up until he left this earth as The Vice President of Construction and as an Officer of the Company. He will forever be remembered for his hilarious sense of humor, always looking to make everyone laugh. David loved sports, and even if you didn’t, you would after watching a game with him! He was a true fan of college football, always rooting for The University of Georgia Bulldogs. He could tell you any and everything you needed to know about past and present players of the Atlanta Braves! And he never waivered on supporting the Atlanta Falcons! His diverse knowledge and appreciation of music meant he would be singing along with any song, pretty much any time. He will be greatly missed by so many, the impact he made on our lives will linger on forever.
