James Guy Lovell

James Guy Lovell, age 79, lifelong resident of Cleveland, passed away on Saturday, July 22, 2023, following an extended illness.

Mr. Lovell was born on October 7, 1943, in Cleveland, Georgia, to the late Elijah Fay and Bonnie Mae Priest Lovell.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Virginia Cash, Helen Farmer, and Beverly Lovell; as well as his brother, Vernon Lovell.

Mr. Lovell was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving eight years with two tours in Vietnam and one in Korea.  After his service he returned home to work as a carpenter and electrician.  In later years he worked at a furniture company and a metal door and sales company in Habersham County.

Mr. Lovell is survived by his wife of 58 years, Iva Lee Nelms Lovell; brothers, Garland (Judy) Lovell, and Garry (Teresa) Lovell, all of Cleveland, Georgia; sisters, Kathy (Jeff) Wrenn, Hollywood, Georgia, and Debbie (Bruce) Brady, Cleveland, Georgia; sister-in-law, Glenda (Tim) Kinsey; brother-in-law, Edward (Deb) Nelms; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, as well as other relatives also survive.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 26, 2023, at The Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home.  The Rev. Paul Flynn will officiate.  Interment will follow in Union Grove Congregational Holiness Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.
