Mr. Robert Channell, age 85 of Gainesville, passed away on Tuesday, July 18, 2023 surrounded by his family.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 4:00 P.M. Sunday, July 30, 2023 in the Chapel of Christ Place Church with Pastor Rob Britton officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 4:00 Sunday, July 30, 2023 at Christ Place Church.
Mr. Channell was born August 17, 1937 to the late James Thomas & Edna Hallman Channell in Ellenwood, Georgia. A veteran of the United States Army, he spent most of his life on the south side of Atlanta where he held many jobs. However, he spent most of his work life in business for himself including owning several roller-skating rinks south of Atlanta. For years he and his wife were known as Mr. Bob and Mrs. Jo to many kids and their parents. They loved providing a great family environment for families to enjoy being together.
Mr. Channell is survived by his wife of 66 years, Josie Channell; son & daughter-in-law, Doug & Ellen Channell; son & daughter-in-law, Dave & Karen Channell; daughter & son-in-law, Lisa & Chris Bozeman; grandchildren, Erin Channell Wiley, Jerry Channell, Scott Channell, Bobby Channell, Tim Channell, Mallory Channell, Jay Channell, Brittany Jordan, Mandy McManious, Lauren Gauthey, Caris Lockwood and Joy Bozeman and 15 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, James Thomas Channell and many nieces and nephews.
