Ann Floyd McQuay, age 86, of Buford, Georgia, died on July 10, 2023.
Ann was born and raised in Richmond, Virginia. She attended Hermitage High School, received her Bachelor of Arts at Mercer University, and earned her Master’s Degree at Georgia College and State University. She worked for many years at Georgia Baptist College School of Nursing as the Director of Admission and Director of Financial Aid.
Ann was an active member of Buford Presbyterian Church. She was part of a women’s circle, the women’s canasta group, and the Stephen’s Ministry. She was an avid gardener; her roses were neighborhood renowned! Ann enjoyed feeding and watching the birds in her yard. She loved animals and always had at least one dog in the house. Ann enjoyed making soups and candies to share with friends and family, especially when they were in need of some comfort and company. She loved the Falcons, Georgia Bulldogs, and the Braves; she rarely missed watching a game. “A”, as her grandchildren called her, loved her family and friends most of all.
Ann is predeceased by her mother Florine Jenkins Floyd, her father, Harry Lee Floyd, Jr, her sisters Margaret Floyd and Bernice (Sissy) Pace, her brother Harry Lee (Sonny) Floyd, III, her son-in-law Richard Tanner, and her husband Charles (Chuck) McQuay. Ann is survived by her sons, Scott (Genie) Rawles of Lilburn, GA, Rodney Rawles of Buford; step-daughters, Kathy Tanner of Peachtree Corners, GA, Debbie (Marshall) Walker of Lilburn, GA, five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service will be held on July 29, 2023 at 11:00 a.m.at Buford Presbyterian Church
