Doyle Lee Lipscomb, Jr. was born to the late Doyle Lee Lipscomb, Sr. and Norene Lyles Lipscomb in Gainesville, GA. February 05, 1956. He was preceded in death by his older brothers, Jalasker Lyles, Sr. and Johnny Doyle Watkins and his younger brother, James Edward (Bug) Lipscomb. He received Christ at an early age, and he was a member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church in Gillsville, GA.
Sgt. Doyle Lipscomb (U.S. Army) attended Fair Street Elementary School and Gainesville High School. His endeavors led him to new horizons prior to graduating. He enlisted in the U.S Army in 1976 and while stationed overseas in Germany he rose to the rank of Sergeant. He was a Short-Range Missile Crewman and received an Honorable discharge. After returning home from the Army, he later obtained his GED and attended Lanier Tech and received two diplomas for Electrician and Heating and Air Conditioning. Doyle held several positions in the culinary field starting as the Dietary Manager at the Northeast Ga. Medical Center in Gainesville, GA then at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta GA and Morrison’s in Brunswick GA. He returned home to finish his career with the Northeast Georgia Health
System where he retired after more than thirty years as a manager.
Doyle was always the life of the party and center of attention. Affectionately known as “Hollywood”, “Party Doyle”, “Machevelli” and “Garfield”. Doyle loved to read, politics, old-school music, cooking and having dinners for family and friends. He always had a smile and never hesitated to tell you how handsome he was, and if you dared not to agree, he would say “stop your hating, I know I look good” followed by his beautiful smile.
He leaves to cherish his memory: Daughters: Candace (Billy) Davenport and Yolanda Nicole Glasper both of Gainesville, GA. Brother Tony Bailey. Two sisters: Rose Wright and Annie Rea Lipscomb all of Gainesville, GA. Nephew Gary Lyles. Four nieces: Lisa (Jerome) Randolph, Tolano (Greg)Bonds, Sheena Lipscomb and Jasmine Adams. Nine grandchildren: Julie Lott, Keenan Lott, Terriah Watkins, Camaya Watkins, Jeremiah Glasper, Danielle Glasper, Ky’Torria Nicely, Jayden Nicely and Keshaun Jones. A host of cousins, great nieces and nephews and loving friends. Special friends: His best friend Tammy Winkler. Richard Montgomery and Hattie Fausette. His two pigs: Calvin and Meredith.
Mr. Lipscomb's Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 22nd at the hour of 2pm at Hillside Chapel. Professional Services Entrusted to Wimberly Funeral Home.
