Daniel Baker Cox

Daniel Baker Cox, 88 of Pendergrass, Georgia, went to be with the Lord on Friday July 14, 2023.

Dan was born in Gainesville, Florida on March 22, 1935, to John O’Neal and Mary Baker Cox. A standout high school athlete, he graduated from Gainesville High School in 1953 and went on to earn a football scholarship at Duke University. He later completed his medical degree at the University of Miami and dedicated his professional life to the practice of medicine. An avid pilot, fisherman, football fan, joke-teller, and ski boat driver extraordinaire, Dan was a devoted family man. He is survived by his two daughters, Cathy Whiting (Mark) of Pendergrass, GA, and Beth Bourbeau (Phil) of West Palm Beach, FL along with five grandchildren, Taylor Spruce, Lindsay Spruce, Ashton Whiting, Jesse Whiting, and Eli Whiting, and was predeceased by his loving wife of sixty years, Lou Wheless Cox. There will be no formal services held at Dan’s request.
