Elizabeth Walton Law Hein was born in Gainesville, Georgia on June 29, 1955. She passed away Monday, July 17, 2023, suddenly while traveling back to Gainesville, Georgia from a trip.
She was preceded in death by her mother Susan Reid Manley Law, father George Hammond Law Jr., and granddaughter Hallie Lynn Hein.
The eldest of five siblings, "Pippi" thrived in a busy household. Always musical, she took piano lessons from the ages of five to seventeen. As a teenager, Elizabeth saved up her own money and taught herself how to play the guitar. Elizabeth composed and performed her own songs at various church groups.
As Elizabeth grew older, academic achievement became more important to her which caused her to earn an associate’s degree and two bachelor’s degrees before graduating with a Master’s of Social Work in 1998. She was a therapist in the prison system and community service boards, including Avita Community Partners and Advantage Behavioral Health Systems. Elizabeth’s clients generally loved her; when she would switch counties, some clients would drive long distances in order to keep seeing her.
Elizabeth was a dedicated mother as well. She was always there for her children and acted as a secondary caregiver when her granddaughter was in a car wreck several years ago. Elizabeth was a loving “Grandmama.” She taught her grandchildren to appreciate the Beatles and all kinds of music. Always affectionate, no grandchild ever escaped without a hug and a kiss!
Elizabeth is survived by her children F. Wilson (Ruth) Hein Jr. and Helen Walton Hein; step-daughter: Nicole Hein Chadwell; grandchildren: Henry, Walton, and Emma Hein; step-grandchildren: Mary Catherine and Hamilton Chadwell; brothers G. Hammond (Bree) Law III and J. Fletcher (Kay) Law; and sisters Helen Law (Michael) Perry and Susan Reid Law Tarleton; various nieces and nephews.
