Donald V. Hampton

Donald V. Hampton, 61, of Dawsonville, passed away at his residence on Monday, July 10, 2023 following a sudden illness.

Born July 14, 1961, Donald was a lifelong resident of Dawson County.  He was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church and for many years worked at Sleeveco in Dawsonville until his retirement in 2018.  Donald enjoyed life and was very dedicated to his family.  He enjoyed building motors and working on Chevrolet Trucks most of all.  For the last 33 years his pride and joy was his big blue 1976 Chevrolet 4x4 step-side pickup that he built alongside his brother.  Donald was one of the kindest, most patient men you could ever know and he leaves behind a host of dear relatives and friends.  He would always leave you with “have a blessed day.”

Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Claudine Hampton and brother, Larry Hampton.

Surviving are his siblings, Mary Margaret and Ken Korab of Dawsonville, Mildred Emerson of Gainesville, Fran and Michael Harben of Woodstock, Glen Hampton of Dawsonville; nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 13, 2023 at 1 p.m. at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel.  Rev. Tim Hubbard will officiate.  Interment will follow at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday July 12th from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Thursday from 11 a.m. until the hour of service.
