Sharon (Shirley) Denise Casey Stephens

Sharon (Shirley) Denise Casey Stephens, 67 of Gainesville, GA departed this life on Wednesday July 5, 2023 at The Northeast GA Medical Center following a brief illness. She was born April 30, 1956, to the late Ray and Louvonia Williams Casey.
 
Shirley loved the Lord and accepted Christ at an early age where she joined her family’s home church, Cross Plains Baptist Church. While at Cross Plains she served as the President of the Kitchen Ministry and Custodial team. Later in life Shirley went on to join the Antioch Baptist Church Family under the leadership of Pastor Rodney A. Lackey Sr. She attended Fair Street, New Holland, and East Hall High School. She worked various jobs in the community for over 20+ years including Ramada Inn and Kolb Fasteners. Before retirement she was employed with the Hall Co School System as a bus monitor for children with Special Needs. Shirley had a passion for cooking and a servant heart that was willing to do whatever it took to keep her family together. She was often referred to as, “Nanny” or “Aunt Shirley”.
 
She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Luther & Gaynell Williams, brothers; David Casey and Alfred (Buddy) Williams, fur companion; “Spencer”.
 
She leaves to cherish her husband of 52 years, Kenneth B. Stephens Sr; three children; Casandra (Uwe) Schilli of Atlanta, GA, Kenneth (Cassandra) Stephens Jr, of Lula GA, Demetris (Michelle) Stephens of Gainesville, GA. Two Sisters; Evion (Willie) Stephens and Kimberly Casey Ruffin. Three brothers; Jacob (Bonnie) Cheeks of Chester, VA, Ronnie (Denise) Casey of Atlanta, GA, and Darrell (Fannie Sue) Casey of Gainesville, GA. Brother in laws; Freddie (Mozell) Stephens, Charles Stephens, Willie (Evion) Stephens and Bobby Stephens all of Gainesville, GA. Sister in law; Emma Lou Hunter of Braselton, GA. Thirteen grandchildren; Six great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Special niece/daughter; Alisa Rowe Burton, wonderful family friend Samuel “Bo” Randolph her fur companion, “Ariel Stephens”.
 
Sharon's Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2023, at Antioch Baptist Church at 12:00 PM.  Visitation will be held on Friday, July 7, 2023 between the hours of 6:00 PM-8:00 PM at Antioch Baptist Church. Professional Services Entrusted to Wimberly Funeral Home.
