Mary Prather was a loving mother and a powerful woman of faith. More than all of the great things she accomplished and achieved in her lifetime, the titles Mother and Believer are the two she wore proudest. Whether at home, in church, or among family and friends Mrs. Prather was known as a hard worker, a compassionate friend, a wise confidant, a charitable giver, and a generously kind woman. In her last years, what she enjoyed most was spending time with the loved ones who visited her and with the church family she served diligently for as long as she could. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her and remembered fondly by all. She was preceded in death by her mother Annie Holland-Burce and father Thomas Burce Senior, her brothers Thomas Burce Jr., Wydene Burce, and John Burce, her sisters Ruth Winters and Rosie Teasley, her late husband Ed Prather, her daughter Rosetta King, and her sons Walter and Henry Prather. She is survived by her daughter Ann Statham and a large extended family. “We were so blessed to have you, Big Mama, and we are so sad to see you go. But, we’ll hold on to the peace and the joy we find in knowing that now you are with the Lord, resting in power and in peace. We will miss you dearly and honor your memory daily. Thank you for the love and the faith you raised us in. Even though you’re gone, all that love and wisdom you left stays with us, unshakable and unmovable, just like you.”
