Dean Franklin, 92, of Dawsonville passed away Saturday, July 1, 2023 at his residence following a period of declining health.
Born October 15, 1930 to the late Emory and Maye Franklin, Dean previously resided in Brookhaven and had lived in Dawson County since 2008. He was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church in Dawsonville and for many years attended University Baptist Church in Brookhaven where he served as a deacon, clerk, and treasurer for over 60 years. Dean served as the President of Berry Industrial Equipment Company for many years until forming Berry-Franklin Inc. where he worked until his retirement. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Franklin; daughter, Bonnie Franklin; sisters, Sarah Amos, Agnes Sorrells.
Surviving are his wife, Judy Franklin of Dawsonville; children, Joe Franklin (June) of Chamblee, Ted Franklin of Doraville, Monnie Wright (Sherrill) of Rome; brothers, Ray Franklin (Naomi) of Eatonton, Tony Franklin (Maribel) of Eatonton; grandchildren, Samuel Franklin (Jessica) of Marietta, Abigail Switzer (Lucas) of Duluth, Lacey Stegall of Rome, Jacob Wright (Magella) of Tokyo, Japan; great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Emery, and Salem; other relatives.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 5, 2023 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and at Lighthouse Baptist Church on Thursday, July 6, 2023 from 11 a.m. until the hour of service.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 6, 2023 at 12 Noon at Lighthouse Baptist Church. Dr. Charles Blackstock will officiate.
Interment will be on Thursday, July 6, 2023 at 3 p.m. at Crest Lawn Memorial Park, 2000 Marietta Blvd. NW, Atlanta, GA 30318.
