Joys Dickson Pittman

Joys Dickson Pittman, age 93, of Gainesville, Georgia passed away on Monday, July 03, 2023 peacefully at home.

Born March 13, 1930 in Atlanta, Georgia. She was the daughter of the late John Jefferson Dickson and Ida Loyd Dickson. Joys is preceded in death by her parents, husband of 59 years Henry Earl Pittman and her brother Dudley Dickson.

Mrs. Pittman graduated Girls’ High School in Atlanta, Georgia in 1947, where she was a part of the last graduating class of the school. She then attended the Atlanta Division of the University of Georgia, now Georgia State. Joys was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church since 1949. Through the years she taught Sunday school, accompanied the children’s and youth choirs on the piano and sang in the chancel choir for over 60 years. She was a member of the St. Paul Caring Committee and the Tallulah Falls Study Club. She worked with her husband Earl at his electronic sales and service business from its beginning in 1951 until 2005.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law John and Betty Pittman of Gainesville, GA; son Chuck Pittman of Tinton Falls, NJ; grandchildren Linda Leigh Pittman LoRe (Chris) of Brooklyn, NY and Gregory Earl Pittman of Little Silver, NJ.

A memorial service will be held on July 8, 2023 at 11:00 am at St. Paul United Methodist Church on Washington Street. The family will receive friends after the service.
