Rosalyn graduated from EE Butler High School in 1969. Education was important to her, so she attended night school to obtain her diploma while raising a family and working. She was in the last graduating class, along with her daughter and sister, before the school was closed due to integration. Rosalyn worked at the hosiery mill and in the poultry industry, retiring from Conagra Food Services. She had a strong work ethic and ensured her family never lacked anything.
Rosalyn was baptized at her family church, Cross Plains Missionary Baptist Church, and later became a member of St. John Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Dorcas Circle. She was a generous spirit that unselfishly served her community and the less fortunate. In the early 1970s, she supported her twins and several boys from 240 Atlanta Street by serving as the Den Mother for Boy Scouts of America Pac 230. She was also a member of the Sunshine Club community garden. Rosalyn was a staunch financial supporter of the Grady Young Foundation and The Boys and Girls Club.
A confidant and friend to many, she often received visits from friends and family upon their return to Gainesville after moving away. She received calls from many friends and relatives to catch up on the latest community news and soap operas. Rosalyn loved to cook and often sent food plates to those in the community. Her other favorite pastime was watching sports on television, including the Falcons and both college and professional women's basketball. She enjoyed family gatherings and family reunions.
